Fire authorities in Sandy responded to a house fire call in Pepperwood. When they arrived the garage of the house was fully engulfed in flames. UDK was called out to secure the structure and begin putting together a plan for restoration.
The structural damage was extensive requiring a complete rebuild and tie in of the garage and a significant amount of smoke and interior damage throughout the home.
One of the unique challenges was cleaning the soot off the existing brick through soda blasting techniques, and then carefully removing the mortar so the brick could be reused for the new garage. The home was built in 1970 and finding an exact match was impossible. Restoring the existing brick was paramount to the success of this project. Several areas of the home adjacent to the garage required structural rebuild as materials required removal to mitigate the house fire’s smoke damage. In addition to the structural repairs, all three levels of the home and personal property were thoroughly cleaned and deodorized to remove residue and odors.
